Enabling DRE Ecosystem for Livelihoods in Ethiopia (EDEL)

EDEL is our flagship program to build a robust, self-sustaining Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) ecosystem focused on livelihoods. In partnership with the IKEA Foundation and implemented by PRECISE, we take a three-stage approach: Innovate, Scale-up, and Amplify.

We co-design and pilot DRE solutions (like solar irrigation and agro-processing) with grassroots partners, validating them across 56 sites. We then scale by incubating 8-10 clean energy enterprises and partnering with financial institutions to create inclusive financing models for over 100 users.

Finally, we amplify impact by fostering cross-learning, creating knowledge products, and facilitating South-South summits to share replicable models. The goal is to transform agriculture and MSME sectors, creating lasting economic impact while building local ownership for a sustainable ecosystem.
